July Foodie Penpal Reveal

The Lean Green Bean

I feel like a ridiculous, stay at home mom cliche saying this, but I love getting things in the mail. I also love discovering new blogs and meeting new people who love food as much as I do. Because of all these things I love getting a new Foodie Penpal every month!

This month I sent my package to someone who doesn’t have a blog, so I’m really hoping she received and enjoyed it! I received a package from Emma Green who writes for the blog Getting Your Life In Order. My package was so thoughtful and delicious, it’s been hard to wait this long to tell you about it!

I don’t know if Emma knew about my love for granola, but I’ve been enjoying this on my daily yogurt since it arrived. It’s crunchy and not too sweet. A really great treat from her local health food store.

Agave Granola

This tropical trail mix was a huge hit with my daughter. She loves snacking on all the different nuts and fruits inside, and I have to say I do as well.

I haven’t had a chance to try this cashew crunch yet, but cashews are one of my favorite nuts so I’m really looking forward to it.

I also haven’t tried the licorice yet, but it looks so fruity and delicious that I’m hoping too soon.

I was sick when my husband cracked open these sour cream chips. Even though my stomach was upset I ate a few because they looked (and really were) so good. It was a good idea/bad idea kind of thing. I would definitely eat these again if I could find them around here, they’re like a healthier, heartier Dorito.

Emma’s blog is all about emergency preparedness, so she sent me this package of freeze dried lasagna. I have to say the thought freaks me out a little bit, but I’ll try it eventually and I’ll bet it probably tastes pretty good.

Finally Emma was thoughtful enough to include a homemade burp rag for the baby I’m expecting in October! I thought it was so sweet of her to include something so thoughtful in my box.

If you think you might be interested in joining Foodie Penpals, here’s some more information:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!

-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re interested in participating for August, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

You must submit your information by August 4th as pairings will be emailed on August 5th!

I *just* found these chips on sale at Whole Foods and thought they were great! There is a guacamole flavor that is really really good too. I am still loving FPP as well – I’ve met the nicest people and had a ton of fun writing the posts up. Congrats on the little one you are expecting. My little one is an October baby too and I remember being so HOT in the Midwest at this time last year :)
